Vallee Blanche

Vallee BlancheThe Aiguille du Midi cable car in Chamonix gives access to the famous Vallee Blanche.  A 22km off piste run from 3842m down to the valley floor at Chamonix 1000m.

There are numerous different routes and variations on each but all are on glacial terrain. It is strongly advised that skiers and snowboarders without suitable experience of glacial terrain use a qualified Mountain Guide. This can be done easily by joining a guided group with one of the ski schools of Chamonix or with a specialist guiding company which organises groups.  By joining a group you will be taken on the standard route and at the pace of the weakest member of the group. You will still be with a qualified Mountain Guide and have a great and memorable experience.

As a group of friends of similar standard it can be more economical to take on a Private Mountain Guide for the day to take you down the Vallee Blanche . An added advantage is the potential to take suitable variations based on your ability or a more challenging route.

If you have the capacity for using a Qualified Mountain Guide for an off piste day before doing the Vallee Blanche the guide will know your ability and be able to talk through the options of different routes to help you get the most out of your day on the Vallee Blanche.
