Haute Route Chamonix – Zermatt
The Haute Route is one of the most coveted ski tours in the World. First successfully completed in 1911.
There are many variations on the route, some easier than others, but they all start in the Chamonix Valley from the top of the Grand Montets and finish in Zermatt, Switzerland. The routes are usually 7-8 days and make use of mountain huts and refuges to stay high and cover substantial distances.
Due to the nature of the Haute Route roughly half the skiers starting the route don’t complete it either through weather, navigation, kit failure or poor choice of route. As a lot of the route is glacial this presents the additional hazard of crevasses.
Steve will pick a route suitable for your group, check individual and group kit as well as organise refuges along the way. His intimate knowledge of the mountains and the possibilities at every stage will ensure that you make the most of your trip.
